Ski

I could probably go on for days about Ski. I could tell you stories about how people used to revel in finding pieces of pulp and even small chunks of fruit at the bottom of their returnable bottles of the stuff. I could tell you further stories about people away at college taking several cases of the stuff back with them to satisfy their friends' addictions as well as their own.

Hey, wait – I suppose I did just tell you those stories … oh, well. Suffice it to say that outside of alcohol or coffee, Ski is likely the only beverage I've ever encountered that seems to genuinely addict people, to the point of suffering withdrawal if they don't have any.

I've never really suffered this particular problem, but have always found Ski to be a totally enjoyable beverage. It's a citrus soda, with natural and artificial flavoring. Of any of the "major" citrus sodas, it's probably more like Sundrop than any of the others. It's much less heavy than Mountain Dew or Surge, and quite a bit more crisp, with many more flavors apparent.

It's also a lot less uniform in terms of consistency. While one can after another of Dew or Surge will pretty much all taste the same, Ski can vary subtly, with one citrus flavor a bit stronger than another. But it always tastes good, is always refreshing, and as a bonus, it's loaded with caffeine. Bring on the whim-whams, I say.
