100 Bullets #46 (September 2003)

Miserably unpleasant on all levels, 100 Bullets is apparently a comic about prison life. In this issue, the first I've read, the dialogue and action is confusing and elliptical. The drawing style downright ugly.

Perhaps it gets across the grimy despair of prison, but that's generally not what I look to comics for. Comics should be about barrel-chested superheroes and their giant-breasted women, not shivs and shanks and lockdowns. Fuck, if I wanted a dose of prison, I'd have turned myself in years ago.

The book culminates in a prison hospital fight, and ends with two characters in "the hole." Here's another, equally unpleasant hole to describe how I felt about this comic …

blown-out asshole
