A&W Cream Soda

I chanced upon this one at a gas station I frequent in St. Louis. The reasons I frequent it aren't fit to be discussed here, but be sure that they don't involve the place's restroom and a bright blue Sharpie marker.

Right off, I have to say that in the bottle, A&W Cream Soda has possibly the most unappealing color of any soft drink I've ever seen. It's almost the exact shade of watery brown as a cough medicine I was subjected to as a child, which was maybe the most bitter and awful tasting stuff I've ever experienced. As with the rest of my childhood, I tried to suppress this from my mind as I got ready to try A&W Cream.

It doesn't SMELL particularly creamy, but it sure does taste creamy. It's a bit overpowering at first, but that's just because I almost never drink cream soda, so it's not a flavor I expect when drinking soda. I drank about half the bottle and quit when it started to get warm. I then took it home and poured it in a glass over ice. This improves the appearance quite a bit, as it produces a nice foamy head, and actually looks a hell of a lot like a glass of Samuel Adams.

It still tastes like cream soda, though. It's safe to say that I would never habitually drink it, but I'll allot points under the assumption that cream soda likers would find it very enjoyable.
